CAIIP- 1

Goal
To increase agricultural productivity and hence rural household incomes through investment in infrastructure.
Objectives
  • Support to rural road improvement
  • Support to sub county market structure improvement
  • Rural electrification of markets.
  • Community mobilization and capacity building

Performance in FY 2009/10

  • Baseline study on small scale agro-processing facilities, rural markets, community access roads and rural feeder roads in the 26 CAIIP districts was conducted;
  • EIA and environmental audits for all the  agro-processing facilities, rural markets, community access roads and rural feeder roads in the 26 CAIIP districts conducted;
  • 1,1156kms of community access roads were rehabilitated and handed over;
  • 156 Infrastructure Management Committees for Community access roads were formed and trained;
  • 77 Market Management Committees for the rural markets were formed and trained;
  • 124 Agro-processing facilities managements committees for the assorted agro-processing facilities were formed and trained;
  • 248 Petty Contractors were trained in 13 districts under CAIIP – 1;
  • 1400 men and women were trained in gender and HIV awareness.

Planned Outputs for FY 2010/11

  • 582.5km of district feeder roads rehabilitated in 26 CAIIP- 1 Districts;
  • 1,649km  of community access roads rehabilitated in 26 CAIIP – 1 Districts;
  • 77 rural markets constructed in 26 CAIIP – 1 Districts;
  • 248 petty contractors Trained in 13 CAIIP – 1 Districts;
  • 1800 men and women trained in gender and HIV awareness;
  • 33 rice hullers, 39 maize mills, 37milk coolers and 14 coffee hullers supplied and installed
  • 15.2km of grid extended to 34 rural markets;
  • 58 generator sets for milk coolers and other agro-processing facilities supplied and installed to facilities  far from the grid.
